I’m in love
100% merino wool top. I bought about 8 oz of this top at Mind’s Eye Yarns in Cambridge, MA during her anniversary sale–it was 25% off. I love the colors. I initially bought it to make a felted bag, but now I’m thinking I might make a hat and mitten set.
ready to be plied. Lucy (the owner of mind’s eye) taught me the Andean plying method. It seems to work well for me.
on my spindle. ready for me to set the twist
close up. It seems to be twisting upon itself a bit–I’m not sure if this is normal or not.
another pic of the yarn drying. watching yarn dry is actually much more exciting than watching paint dry.
all done! wound up in a skein, ready to be balled and knit.
swatch! I knit the bottom half on 11s, which gave me about 3.3 sts/inch. The top was knit on 13s at about 3 sts/inch. I like the way the looser fabric feels, but if I were knitting a hat I would probably use 11s.
