I’ve been knitting a lot lately, trying to fill the time and such.
One of the things on my list of things to knit has been a laptop sleeve. I’ve needed one because my laptop backpack that I used in school is way too huge. It looks kind of like this one, but is actually bigger and in Tarheel Blue (I got it at the bookstore). I also have a laptop briefcase, but all my crap doesn’t fit in there. I was hoping to get one of these quilted laptop sleeves from Timbuk2.com, but my budget won’t allow it at the moment. I also really like this cargo tote just in case anyone’s taking notes. 
Anyhow, after an assessment of my stash I decided to use the “Aubergine” Wool-Pak and “Burt’s Blush” Lamb’s Pride Worsted (shown below)
Both of these yarns were gifts from my mom’s friend–I guess my mom was talking about me knitting and she got so excited she sent me a bunch of yarn. There wasn’t enough of any yarn for a big individual project so I figured stripes were in my future. I’d been thinking about a felt laptop sleeve for a while, but I didn’t have a washing machine. I figured now was as good a time as any.

I ran it through the agitation cycle one and a half times and it was good to go. I am so happy with how fast this felted, excellent agitation cycle. It came out a little shorter and a little wider than I would have liked, but with some blocking I was able to get it to the right size.
Blocking photo. I wrapped my laptop in plastic and slid it on in there, pinned it shut, and let it dry overnight.
My next step is to line it and put some snap tape along the edge to keep it closed. It’s a little wider than I would like so I might put some extra padding on the sides so it doesn’t slip around. All in all I am very happy with the results!

fantastic! I’ve just decided to make myself a laptop sleeve with no idea on pattern etc, any clues as to how to get something as pretty as yours? I’m a newbie at this whole knitting.

Love your bag and well as the colour. What size is your laptop?
Do you have a pattern for the laptop bag? I need one, but also can’t afford one! I love felting and I have just learned to knit. Need to do a project – useful one for my textiles class – due before xmas break.

Great laptop cover! I just knit a bunch of felt hats to donate through Afghans 4 Afghans so I am big into felting right now. Can you share the pattern? I have a 13 inch apple.
